Minimally Invasive Techniques
Feel Better Sooner With Our Minimally Invasive Procedures
WellspringCV has built an exceptional reputation for its minimally invasive surgical procedures. As one of Houston’s first cardiothoracic surgeons to perform these minimally invasive surgeries, Dr. Davis has been trusted by countless patients to give them back their livelihoods.
Why Elect to Undergo Minimally Invasive Surgery
As science advances and more conservative surgical techniques are developed, there are several benefits for patients who undergo these types of surgeries, but they can be summarized into two major benefits:
Smaller Incisions
With today’s tools, many patients are candidates for minimally invasive surgeries that require just a small incision. A small incision means less pain for the patient, and when it comes to heart surgeries or other cardiothoracic surgeries, many patients jump at the idea of not having to undergo painful surgery.
A small incision also means a smoother recovery because there was less trauma to the body at the operation site. If patients feel less pain after the procedure and recover faster, they can leave the hospital sooner, experience less scarring, and regain their livelihood far sooner.
Accuracy
When Dr. Davis performs a minimally invasive surgery, he uses specialized tools that grant him a better view into the operation site. This means he can perform procedures with the utmost efficiency and work more delicately without sacrificing the accuracy of the operation. Better accuracy means fewer complications and less time spent in the OR.
Our Houston Cardiovascular Surgeon’s Minimally Invasive Techniques
Always striving for innovation, Dr. Davis was one of the earlier cardiothoracic surgeons to perform surgery with the following techniques:
Endoscopic Port
Endoscopic ports serve as an access point for our endoscope. An endoscope is a flexible tube with a camera attached to it, but we also attach other instruments to it so we can perform accurate cardiothoracic surgeries. This technique is especially useful in performing chest procedures with little disruption to the body.
Catheter-Based Procedures
Catheters are tubes of varying levels of flexibility. We can often tailor the use of catheters to the specific procedure we are performing, which makes them more versatile than endoscopes. Similar to endoscopes, we can attach different surgical instruments for optimal outcomes. At WellspringCV, catheters are most commonly used in endovascular procedures to treat vascular health concerns.
